Turkish
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the opening of the third Istanbul
airport on the day of founding the Turkish Republic with the historic event.
This
came in a brief speech delivered by Erdogan on his visit to Mustafa Kemal
Ataturk in tomb in Ankara on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of founding
of the Turkish Republic.
Erdogan
explained that the opening of the airport is a symbol of the strength of Turkey
and the successes achieved during the march of the Republic in 95 years.
Erdogan
said that the opening of the airport comes in conjunction with the growing
attacks on the Turkish economy, and that this event shows absolutely the extent
solidity of Turkey and its economy.
Erdogan
was accompanied on his visit to the mausoleum, Parliament Speaker Ben Ali
Yildirim, the heads of the parties representing the Turkish parliament,
representatives of the judiciary, the chief of staff and commanders of land,
air and naval forces.
On
Monday, Turkey celebrates the 95th anniversary of founding of the Republic on
29th October 1923 with various events taking place throughout the country.
Following
the celebrations and ceremonies in the capital, Erdogan heads to Istanbul for
the opening of Istanbul's Third Airport, followed by a ceremony commemorating
the founding of the republic.
The
new airport will be the largest in the world, with the completion of all its
facilities.
President
Erdogan will inaugurate the first stage today, with festive ceremonies and
participation of leaders of many countries and governments.
